Ben Carlman, MA, LMHC

Ben Carlman, MA, LMHC, graduated with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin’s University in 2013. Ben completed his internship and obtained his LMHC credentials while working in Community Mental Health at Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare. While at Greater Lakes, he worked with a wide array of individuals experiencing a variety of challenges and also served as a Team Lead/Supervisor.

Ben draws upon his own experiences both personally and professionally to connect with his clients about the difficulties and wonder of being human. He believes we cannot change what happens to us, but we can change how we interpret those experiences and how we relate to them to create a life we love. He also believes we all can heal and live a life worth living regardless of the past. He works with each client to help them work towards self acceptance, let go of old limiting stories, and feel empowered and capable to live a fulfilling life. He believes difficulties in life point the way to our gifts, and helps facilitate bringing those gifts to light and fruition.

He specializes in transformative story telling, helping individuals to recognize that their stories shape their perceptions and their possibilities; changing relationships to emotions allowing for release and enhanced wellbeing; using mindfulness and awareness practices that help clients overcome issues such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction; helping sensitive clients recognize their perception capacities as a talent and gift and release old negative associations. Ben is a credentialed Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist, and also uses techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Ben enjoys working with clients of all ages.
