Kim Burrow, MSW, LICSW

Kim Burrow, LICSW obtained her master’s degree in social work from the University of Washington in 2001, where her graduate studies focused on the treatment of children, teens, and families.   Ms. Burrows completed internships at Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center, and Casey Family Programs in Tacoma, Washington.  Ms. Burrow is currently working towards obtaining her doctoral degree in psychology through University of California Southern.

Most recently, Ms. Burrow has been working with Multicare Behavioral Health in Auburn, Washington providing psychodynamic psychotherapy to children, teens and adults.   Before that in 2009, Ms. Burrow secured a six-year contract position to work with military personnel, including Special Forces service members, and their families, assisting them in dealing with the challenges with multiple deployments and family dynamics.

In 2003, Ms. Burrow was employed at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, Washington working in an acute care clinic with chronically mentally ill patients.  She also worked at the Child Study and Treatment center in Lakewood providing reunification services and psychotherapy for mentally ill adolescents.

Ms. Burrow’s approach to treatment involves using an array of techniques that include cognitive-behavioral techniques, solution-focused therapy, positive psychology, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.  Ms. Burrow also utilizes mindfulness, relaxation skills, and psychodynamic approaches. She received training at the Gottman Institute in marital therapy (level 2 training).  She conducts marriage counseling, and has experience working with couples dealing with infidelity and addiction recovery.  Lastly, Ms. Burrow also does shame recovery work with adults.
